With the whole skyline in view and the aroma of delicious food surrounding us, we waited for our cue to dart out from behind the waiter who carried the dessert with those four important words written across the plate!

Rewind about a month…Brandon had called us and explained that he had been dating his girlfriend Amanda for 5 years and that he finally felt ready to propose! I (Marie) always get butterflies when we get asked to photograph a proposal because it’s always a shoot filled with adrenaline and emotion! He shared with me that he and Amanda both went to Duquesne which is where they met, but that they now live in Chicago. We talked with Brandon about location and he had decided to get a window seat at the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto and have the staff write “Will you marry me” on the dessert, which happened to be angel food grilled cheese!

When chatting with Brandon a few days before the proposal, I could tell he was trying to keep it together but he was definitely stressing! With the travel from Chicago to Pittsburgh, the struggle to keep the ring hidden, and trying to maintain composure, he definitely had good reason!  Luckily, he was able to get here without her suspecting anything and she was adorably surprised when he got down on one knee when the dessert arrived! The soft murmur at the restaurant rose into a hum and then applause broke out! Such a beautiful moment!

After the initial shock, we got some shots in the restaurant and then we took Brandon and Amanda outside to get some photos of the incredible Pittsburgh skyline from Mt. Washington. That view never disappoints! It was an absolutely beautiful night and one that these two will always remember! Thank you both for allowing us to be a part of the magic!!!!
